I spent the better part of three days and three nights in the lovely city of York and surrounding townships, which are equally pleasant.

In the words of the ever humble Tom Waits…

I like Neil Young…
Posted by brettpelletier on September 26, 2006
I posted a few months ago on how much I liked Neil Diamond and my good friend Len asked me why I didn’t post saying I liked Neil Young. To this I replied, “Everyone likes Neil Young, saying I like Neil Young is like saying I like to eat food.” Another one of my friends heard this and replied that he didn’t like Neil Young, weird, but he has been demoted to the B-list I assure you.
So, I like Neil Young. I finally found a new record player and purchased it, ever since that day I have been listening to all of my old records. By my records I mean my parent’s records that have emigrated to my room. It was like a flash of nostalgia, like I was 10 years old again, listening to Deja Vu by CSNY. Total mind-melt.
Len doesn’t like Neil Diamond and for good reasons I can assure you, Len’s cooler than I am for one. Its a funny thing to like folk music, my collection includes Jim Croce, Joni Mitchelle, Carly Simon, Simon and that other guy, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan and of course Neil Young. I have been on a real folk kick lately, which also means I’ve been really depressed lately because you can’t help feeling sad when you listen to it. It makes you realize the futility of it all and how bad things are in the world and what little you can do about it.
Oh well, things could be worse as always. I am off the Neil Diamond kick and now I’m on the tail end of a folk kick, who knows what will come next…maybe something entirely new…in the words of Ben Fong-Torres; “crazy man”.
